Califone Guide to Controlling Your PA Like No Other

You’re probably used to remote controls dedicated for specific equipment or even universal remotes that control different products, but how about one remote to rule all a PA can do?

The remote that’s capable of this is the one used for the PA419. In addition to amplifying audio from up to four audio sources, it can also support mobile-learning devices and, oh – it can also play videos from an iPod and DVDs too! But let’s say you’re in the process of helping a cluster of students while using the PA419 for a class discussion involving a digital audio interview or analyzing video content displayed on a TV. The flexibility to move about the classroom without needing to repeatedly step back to the PA419 can be pretty handy – as handy as having a remote control in hand.

Understanding what the controls on the remote do can be just as valuable as the action in itself. Here’s the breakdown of some important key functions found on the remote. Note that the bottom section that’s shaded in green designates the functions that are possible for a connected iPhone or iPod:

  1. USB/DISC = Allows you to switch back and forth between playing a CD or an audio recording in an MP3 format on a USB flash drive
  2. PT+/PT- = Adjusts the pitch up/down to affect audio speed from ONLY a CD, with a max pitch adjustment of +/- 20% in 3% increments
  3. ZOOM = Enlarges a DVD video shown on a screen in different zoom levels for an up close, detailed view
  4. OSD = On Screen Display for when the PA419 is connected to a TV or projector screen to display track information
  5. PROG = Programs specific songs or chapters for playback in a particular order displayed on a screen
  6. Standard Controls: Play/Pause/Stop/Fast Reverse/Fast Forward/Skip Backward/Skip Forward
  7. Menu, Sub-Title, Repeat, Random, Setup (contrast/brightness/etc), Up/Down/Left/Right Scroll arrows, Mute, Volume Up/Down, Enter, Eject, Number Keypad, and ‘Audio’
  8. Menu (tracks and folders), Repeat, Up/Down Scroll arrows, Volume Up/Down, and Enter
  9. Standard Play/Pause/Rewind/Forward
