Califone Launches First Two Way Jackbox for Group Communication Between Devices

Califone International, Inc. announces the launch of the 1210T Jackbox. The innovative two-way jackbox enables students to listen to distributed content from mobile devices or computers like a traditional jackbox, but also enables them to respond verbally through connected headsets to the jackbox and back to the device.

First Two-Way JackboxThe 1210T supports the mobile technology trend by allowing teachers to facilitate differentiated learning lessons, literacy exercises, small group projects and virtual field trips through Skype® chats, Google®+ hangouts and FaceTime®. It engages and supports up to ten students collaborating from a single device with each station having their own volume control. Students can listen to lesson content at the same time with the 1210T without disrupting one another.

The 1210T jackbox distributes downloaded or streaming audio from iOS and Android-based smartphones, tablets or computers and simultaneously uploads voices through To Go connected headsets. Its ability to capture vocal responses for playback makes it ideal for literacy and language learning with speech utilization, group listening centers, ELL/ELD applications, special education, language labs and podcasting to demonstrate lesson proficiencies.

The new 1210T Jackbox is an attractive new offering for teachers who want to facilitate two-way communication activities through mobile devices,” said Tim Ridgway, vice president of marketing for Califone. “The jackbox provides an endless amount of possibilities for digitally interactive classroom lessons, and is ideal for students who benefit from call-and-response activities.

The jackbox is built with rugged ABS plastic casing for safety and durability, and for prolonged use in computer lab, library and classroom settings. Its permanently attached six foot connecting cord comes with a single 3.5mm To Go plug. Four skid-resistant pads underneath won’t mar or scrape a surface and includes two predrilled holes to permanently affix the 1210T jackbox to a surface. Its silver-plated contacts help prevent the “crackling” sound heard with other jackboxes when connecting.

The new jackbox will be first previewed at the 2013 Infocomm show in Orlando ( 6/12-14) and ISTE 2013 in San Antonio (6/24-26).
